Due Dates to be given in class for all assignments. It is the students' responsibility to keep track of upcoming deadlines in their agenda. Rubrics are also given and should be submitted with given assignement
-Include all categories of Invertebrates and use information from websites. Must be in own words.List 4 Characteristics, 3 examples and 1 picture (unless otherwise stated in class). Share using Googledrive and/or Print.

Alien Invasion 
While many organisms are benficial to humans (create products - cleaners, beauty, medicines, fabrics, etc...) many are not so benefical. Some species threaten biodiversity and invade populations and ecosystems. In this summative task you will explore invasive species within Ontario.

ELECTRICITY UNIT

Static Electricity Lab
Students will discover how static electricity works hands-on.

Guest Speaker  Mrs. Adam Dupis
Mr. Dupis will be coming in to speak with Gr. 6 students about real-life applications of a background in electrical enginerring. Students will get to listen, ask questions and build sample computer circuits. 
 
Building Simple Circuits 
In class we will buildind simple circuits and testing conductors and insulators
Energy Star Home 
Students are asked to complete a webquest and compare and contrast the cost and energy use of appliances in this authentic learning experience.
 
Electricity Test 
Students are expected to know and apply their knoweldge of 
1)The path of electricity
2)Renewable and non-renewable sources of electricity
3)The structure of an atom and its charges (and parts)
4)How static electricity works
5)Know the components of circuits (resistors, symbols, flow of electicity - clockwise-, parallel vs. simple circuits) and also be able to build circuits via. symbols.

Recorder Karate

 

The History of the Recorder: A Children's Story Due: Tuesday November 17
-Grade 1/2 language, coloured pictures, must use history worksheet as a guide, should be 4-6 pages
 
Recorder Quiz Due: December 16th
Know Solfege signs, how to accurately label notes on a scale, timing symbols, recorder finger positioning for notes. Review all class notes. 
 
Recorder Karate Belts
Goal: Achieve one belt colour each week
*Practicing daily at home is essential
*Follow Baroque fingering; however most songs are the same:)

GRADE 6  DANCE

 

 
As part of our study of dance, students will begin by learning about improvisational and interpretive movement. They will move their bodies organically to given music. As students become more aware of how music makes them feel and causes them to move, we will begin to explore formal dance styles and steps. As a summative, students will collaborate cooperatively to create and perform a choregraphed piece.
 
Exploration of Creative Movement:
 
 
 
 
Task 1 Improvisational Dance
Students will be asked to use creative movement to produce inspired pieces (like dancing your dinner, dancing your feelings, dancing justice, etc..
 
Dance Reseach Project: First Nations Dance
In groups, students will be asked to explore a First Nations dance style. They will have to research the historical, cultural and stylistic purposes of the dance. Addtionally, students will teach at least 4-6 steps to the class and either conduct an in person or video footage of a dance demonstration. *Costumes required
 
Group Cheorograph  
Using the elements of dance, students will choose a school appropriate song to highlight their understanding of dance concepts.
