ABOUT ME

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Mrs. Champigny (melanie.champigny@ocsb.ca)

I have been teaching for numerous years. Fortunately, I found my passion early. After graduating from my McMaster Univeristy, I traveled abroad to South Korea where I taught ESL for five years to students of varying levels and ages. It was a time of adventure and awakenings. It was in this 'doing' where I received my best education. I learned how essential interaction in the classroom is - as many of my students were learning English for the first time. During this time, much of my personal and professional growth was inspired by others and the curiousity to explore new cultures: Thai, Cambodian, Laos, Japan, China, Malyaisa, Japan, etc... In 2008, my longing for my Canadian roots called me home. I completed my B.Ed at Ottawa University and have since found myself teaching at the high school and elementary level. While my beginnings were rooted in English, drama and visual arts, I am well-seasoned and have had the priviledge of teaching religion, civics and careers, hairstyling, hospitality, yearbook, photography, science, math, music, gym and  health (to name a few). As I continue in my personal educational journey, the list keeps getting bigger and bigger.

When I'm not teaching? I'm reading stories to my daughters, having inpromptu dance parties in the livingroom, cherishing moments with my family and friends, and drinking coffee to manage it all!
